B.Ed. Regular Mode

Prospectus
Prospectus can be obtained from Magadh University headquarter. The Study Centres of Department are also being permitted to sell Prospectus of the B.Ed. Programme to prospective applicants on payment of the prescribed price including entrance test fee of Rs. 800/- (Rupees Eight hundred ) for general category and Rs. 500/- (for SC/ST candidates) only, in the form of Bank Draft issued from any nationalized bank, in favour of “Director, Directorate of Distance Education, M.U., Bodh-Gaya” payable at Badh-Gaya or through money receipt, to be given at the sale counter of Department/Study centers.

Eligibility for Admission

a) To be admitted to the course for the Degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) a candidate with atleast 50% marks either in the Bachelor's Degree and / or in the Master's degree or any other qualification recognized by the Academic Council of the Magadh University as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to the programme. If a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria of admission and he/she manage somehow other to obtain admit card and sits in the entrance test examination, does not claim for admission as he/she does not fulfill the eligibility criteria of admission.
b) The reservation in seats and relaxation in the qualifying marks in favour of the reserved categories shall be as per the rules of the Government.
c) No applicant shall be admitted, who has not applied for the admission within notified time or who, on being selected for admission, does not get himself admitted within specified time, except where the delay has been condoned by the Vice-Chancellor.
d) Candidates appearing in the final year examination for the qualifying may also apply and appear in the entrance test. If the candidate fails to produce the original mark-sheet of the qualifying examination at the time of counselling the claim for admission shall not be entertained in any circumstances.

e) Candidates belong to other than Bihar state shall not be given benefit or reservation policy. They will be treated as a candidate of general category.


Study Centres
Study centres of DDE are only responsible for selling & collecting the forms for regular B.Ed. Programme. Classes of admitted studnets will be held in the Department of Education, M.U. Campus BodhGaya only. DDE has following study centres, from where the forms can be obtained :

   2.       J. D. Women’s College, Patna
   3.       A. N. College, Patna
   4.       Nalanda College, Biharsharif.
   5.       S. Sinha College, Aurangabad
   6.       Sri Arvind Mahila College, Patna


Admission Form
The admission form duly supported with the attested photo copies of the following documents must reach to :

on or before the last date for submission of the admission form either by the candidate in person or by Speed post / Registered post. Admission form can also be submitted at the Study Centres before the due date of submission by person/post.
1.     Application form downloaded from the website must accompany entrance test fee as mentioned in the prospectus column i.e. Rs. 800/- for general and Rs. 500/- for SC and ST category in the form of DD.
2.     Attested copy of the Marks-sheet of the qualifying examination.
3.     Attested copy of the Matriculation Certificate for the proof of age.
4.     Attested copy of the Caste Certificate, issued by the competent authority (DM/DC/SDO) or any other authorised officer in respect of SC/ST/BC/OBC candidates, seeking admission on reserved quota.
5.     Attach three copies of colour photograph (write your name, application form No. and course applied on the back), excluding one photograph pasted on the application form.
6.     Please attach the 2nd copy of money receipt with the admission form, otherwise form will not be entertained.


Intake

For one academic session 100 students will be admitted in B.Ed. Regular course based on the performance in the entrance test and following the norms of reservation of State Government/M.U. Bodh-Gaya.


Reservation
i)    Seats shall be reserved for SC [16%], ST [01%], BC-I [18%], BC-II [12] & BC Women [03%]. Admission against these seats will be made provided the candidates has passed the Qualifying Examination and appeared in the test and secured the qualifying marks in Entrance Examination i.e. 45%.
ii)   Appearance in the test is mandatory. The reserved category candidates shall have to submit a copy of the certificate mentioning that the candidate belongs to a particular reserved category from an officer not below the rank of S.D.O.
iii)  3% seats shall be reserved for physically disabled candidates : visually impaired (1%), Hearing Impaired (1%) & Orthopedically Handicapped (1%). These 3% seats are within the intake limit : Percentage of disability will be taken into consideration at the time of selection.


Supernumerary Seats
There may be provision of 10% reservation within the intake limit for the wards of Magadh University employees (working at M.U. headquarter only) as per provision of general admission ordinance of Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya. (A proof issued from competent authority must accompany the application form to avail the ward quota at the time of admission) Wife-Husband-Son & Daughter comes under ward quota. Retired employees will not get the facility.

 

Criteria for Admission
a)    Selection of candidates shall be made strictly as per rules of the University/Directorate.
b)    The reservation policy of the State Govt. of Bihar (for educational institutions) and the University rules will be followed.
c)    If necessary, the University may hold pre-admission test for selection of candidate.
d)    No candidate can claim admission as matter of right.
e)    Selected candidates will be informed about their selection through Website or by notice board in the Dept. of Education/Study centres. A call letter for counselling will be sent to only the slected candidates through Speed Post.
f)     The candidate will have to produce the selection letter and all the original documents as mentioned above, along with the Bank Draft of the amount prescribed as fee for the course at the time of admission. The demand draft must be drawn in favour of “Director, Directorate of Distance Education, M.U., BodhGaya", payable at Bodh-Gaya. Cash payment will not be accepted except in special circumstances through money receipt.
g)    Candidate must contact the Director, DDE, M.U. Bodh-Gaya to find out the status of his/her request for admission, if needed during the office hour only.
h)    The University reserves the right to amend the schedule, rules, course structure and fee structure as and when it seems necessary.


Entrance Test
a)    University will hold Entrance Test for selection of candidate. Selection for admission shall be made strictly on the basis of performance in the entrance test to be conducted by the University.
b)    No Candidate will be permitted to appear in the Test without a valid Admit Card. The admit card should be presented to the invigilators/other authorised officials for verification. The candidate’s identity will be verified in respect of his/her details on the Admit Card. If the identity is in doubt, the candidates may not be allowed to appear in the Test. The authorities may at their discretion provisionally permit the candidate to appear in the Test after completing formalities including taking of thumb impression/several signatures for further verification. No extra time will be granted for these formalities to be completed.
c)    Selected candidate will be informed of their selection by post or by notice or through news papers. Selection list will also be available at Study Centre office, DDE office and our website www.mudde.org.
d)    Each Candidate will be required to appear in the Entrance test only at the Centre to which he/she has been allotted.
e)    No telephonic enquiry will be entertained in this regard.
f)     No change will be made in the test centre allotted to the candidate under any circumstances.
g)    Candidates absenting from entrance test will not be considered for admission.
h)    The University reserves the right to amend the schedule, rules, course structure and fee structure as and when it seems necessary.


Description of Entrance Test
There will be objective type of test for admission in B.Ed. Programme. The test comprises of 100 questions carrying one mark each. The objective type questions are of multiple choice with four alternative answers (numbered 1, 2, 3, 4) to each question. Candidates are required to choose the correct one. For the test, each candidate will be supplied a sealed question booklet (which contains the question) and OMR. answer sheet. The candidate will have to choose the correct answer and shade against the appropriate choice in the OMR response sheet provided, strictly adhering to the instructions.
ð No negative marks for wrong answers.
ð The question paper will be in English & Hindi only.
ð   Candidates should carefully go through and strictly adhere to all the instructions given in the OMR Response sheet before they begin.
ð   The candidates should bring their own black ball point pen of good quality. This will not be supplied by the University.
ð   Candidates should shade the correct response against each question in the OMR response sheet only with a black ball point pen.
ð   The candidates should sign in the attendance sheet at appropriate places.
ð   The Admit card should be preserved and produced for verification at the time of counselling/admission.
ð   Violation of any instruction and adoption of any unfair means in the examination hall will make the candidate ineligible for admission.
ð   Use of Calculators, Log Tables, Watches with facilities of calculators, pages, and cellular phones is strictly prohibited in the examination hall. Candidates are also strictly forbidden from carrying any textual printed or written, bits of paper, envelope or any other materials into the examination hall except the Admit card.


Distribution of Marks

The question paper consists of two parts Part - A and Part - B.
Part - A :  Consists of 80 questions carrying one mark each. Questions will be asked from General English comprehension, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, Educational & General awareness and Teaching-Learning and the school.
Part - B :  Consists of 20 questions carrying one mark each. This part is based on subject competence and contains faculty based questions i.e.
(i)   Science faculty                                (ii)        Humanities faculty
(iii) Social Science faculty                    (iv)       Commerce faculty

            But students are advised to answer only one set of faculty based questions which they have opted. If they answer more than one set of faculty based questions from part B, their answer sheet will be rejected by the computer.

Results
For the declaration of results of entrance test, the Department will arrange to send call letters through registered post to candidates being called for counselling. Admission is based strictly on merit index prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test following the reservation policy of the admission. The merit list will also be available on the website www.mudde.org. Only selected candidates for admission will be informed through call letter by the University. No scrutiny/re-evaluation of answer-sheet/Booklet of the test shall be allowed on any ground as OMR Sheets are evaluated through computer only.

Criteria for Selection
A list of finally selected candidates will be prepared in order of merit, based on their performance in the Entrance Test and reservation policy.

Instruction
The application form is required to be filled up by the candidates in Capital letters (except signature and address) using either ink or ball pen in HIS/HER OWN HAND WRITING. Where information is required to be filled in boxes, write names in capital letters, leave one box black between first and middle name and also between middle name and last name or initials of names. Your name, Father's name, Mother's name and Date of Birth in the application form should exactly be the same as mentioned in the High School/Class X certificate. Any discrepancy, whenever found, may lead to cancellation of your candidature.

Before posting the application please ensure that :
q Make sure that you are using the correct application form to be purchased from DDE Headquarter or from recognized study Centres.
q You have read and understood all the instructions/informations given in the Prospectus/application form carefully.
q You have completed and submitted the form and have filled up the form as per given instructions. Incomplete application forms shall not be entertained.
q You have enclosed attested copies of all certificates and documents as required. After verification if it is found that the certificates and documents submitted by the candidate are fake, his/her admission shall be cancelled and fee deposited will be forfeited and  legal action may be initiated against the candidate.
q  You have indicated your correct STD code and phone No./Mobile No.
q  You have mentioned your correct e-mail address.
q The Prospectus once sold, cannot be returned in any circumstances as it is non-refundable.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS WHILE APPLYING FOR ADMISSION

t In no case original documents be sent along with the admission form; only attested copies of the documents should be enclosed. However, at the time of admission the following documents will be required in original, along with their attested photo copy for verification. Original documents will be returned to the candidate immediately after verification and comparison.
t In case of the marks statement is not produced by the candidates at the time of admission the decision of the Department of Education regarding his/her eligibility and admission to the programme shall be final.
t The candidate selected for admission must pay the required/prescribed fees, in full at the time of admission. There is no provision of installments in the course fee.
t There is no provision of exemption of course fee & other charges for any category of candidates.
t On the reverse side of the Demand Draft, the candidate must write his/her name, admission form no. and the name of the course applied for.
t Candidates are advised to retain photo copy of the Demand Draft for their personal use and record.
t No refund of course fee & other charges is allowed for any reason and in any case.
t Ensure the correctness of your Mailing address, Pin code, E-mail, Telephone/Mobile No.  M.U. will not accept any responsibility for any postal delay/irregularity or loss in postal transit.
t It is the responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the requisite qualification for admission. Having been called for the written test/counselling does not necessarily mean acceptance of the eligibility.
t After due date application form shall not be accepted.
t The admission offered to a candidate who has been provisionally admitted to the B.Ed. programme will stand cancelled if he/she does not submit the original relevant documents to the admission in-charge at the time of admission.
t Admission to B.Ed. programme will however be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/documents of the candidates. In case of any discrepancy, even at later point of time after admission, the university reserves all right to cancel the candidate’s admission and this decision shall be final.

Attendance
Students are expected to attend the classes and other activities regularly. A student must have completed 75% attendance, otherwise he/she will not be permitted to appear in the B.Ed. final examination. Under unavoidable circumstances the decision of the office shall be final.


IDENTITY CARD
All students admitted to B.Ed. course of Magadh University will get Identity Card on prescribed fee of Rs. 50/-, which shall remain valid till completion of the course.


Dress Code
All the students of B.Ed. Regular programme will have to attend their classes in the uniform prescribed by the University. For boys white shirt and grey trouser. For girls white Salwar, Grey Jamper and White Dupatta. In winter Navy Blue blazer is common for both. DDE office may supply the dress offer realising the market costs fixed for each student. At the time of admission the candidates are required to pay the estimated cost of uniform (Material and Tailoring both) to the Departmental council so that the uniform should be ready on the day of commencement of classes.

DISPUTE, IF ANY
1.   In case of any dispute, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor or statutory bodies of Magadh University shall be final & binding on all parties.
2.   For any matter the legal jurisdiction shall lie in Gaya court and / or Patna High Court only.

 

Change of Address
Any change in the address of the candidate enrolled must be communicated to the Department of Education immediately.

 

Course Curriculum

The programme is essentially a combination of theory and practical courses to develop knowledge, skills and attitude in practicing teachers and freshers. Illustrations and cases of relevant situations and activities comprise the core of each paper. The core subject is suitably supported by theoretical aspects as well as practical concerns of teaching.  Thus, the programme consists of ten papers of 100 marks each. Out of ten, there shall be seven theoretical papers and three papers are concerned with the practical aspects of teaching learning process. Suggested syllabus may be modified whenever required in the light of the syllabus prescribed by NCTE.

DURATION OF COURSE
a)         The duration of the Course shall be of one academic session
b)         The final examination leading to the award of the degree shall be held at the end of the academic session on the date notified by the University.

TIMING
The working hours is form 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All students are expected to remain in the Department from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at M.U. BodhGaya. The timing may change in the days of summer as per University guidelines.

PRACTICE TEACHING
Practice Teaching is an integral part of B.Ed. programme all students have to :
p  Prepare 15 lesson plans in each method.
p  Demonstrate 25 lesson in real situation under the supervision of subject expert.
p  Demonstrate at least 5 criticism lesson  in presence of colleagues and subject expert in real situation.
p  During practice teaching all students are expected to be in the school for the entire duration of the school hours.

Co-Curricular  Activities
Co-Curricular activities are regular feature of B.Ed. Programme. Many different Co-Curricular activities are organized at regular intervals of time i.e. Preparation of T.L.M., organization of cultural programme, organization of science exhibition and improvisation of apparatus etc. for the above items each candidate has to deposit Rs. One Thousand at the time of admission.

Registration
All candidates enrolled for B.Ed. course must get themselves registered with Magadh University after depositing the requisite registration fee. Candidate shall not be allowed to appear in the examination without registration with the Magadh University. Those who are already registered with the Magadh University need not be reregistered.

STUDNETS' WELFARE FUND
For the benefits of students, teachers & supporting staff each admitted student has to pay Rs. 1000/- at the time of admission.

EXAMINATION
1.   To be admitted to the examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Education, a candidate must have:
a)   completed the courses of study prescribed for the B.Ed. Programme.
b)   registered with the University as a students.
c)   completed atleast 75% attendance, otherwise he/she will not be permitted to appear at the B.Ed. examination.
2.   A candidate for Bachelor of Education shall be examined in eight papers carrying 100 marks each.
3.   There shall be seven theoretical and three practical papers. Each theoretical paper shall consist of two parts :
a)   a written examination carrying 80 marks
b)   Internal assessment carrying 20 marks.
4.   The examination in each of the theoretical papers (written examination) shall be of three hours duration.
5.   The medium of examination for the course shall be English or Hindi.
6.   The mode of instruction shall comprise printed materials (in English or Hindi), holding regular classes, evaluating response-sheets. Tutorial classes, regular internal assessment and using other Audio-visual aids available for the purpose.
7.   Courses of study for Bachelor of Education Examination (B.Ed. Prog.) shall be the same as prescribed by the Academic Council of the Magadh University and as per the guidelines of NCTE.
8.   A candidate, having completed the course, fails to appear at the examination or fails in the examination shall be allowed to take subsequent examinations on payment of prescribed examination fee without being required to complete the course again. However, this opportunity shall be given only in two more examinations, within a period not exceeding three years, excluding the main examination held at the end of the session.

Conduction of Examination
(i)   The examination shall be conducted by Magadh University which shall also finalize the programme for the examination and necessary fee for its conduction.
(ii)  Candidates obtaining 60 per cent of the total marks in aggregate or more shall be placed in First Class.
(iii) Candidates obtaining 45 per cent or more but less than 60 per cent of the total marks in aggregate shall be placed in the Second Class.

Award of Degree
Those who complete the programme successfully shall be awarded appropriate degree by Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya in prescribed form specifying the Class/Division in which he/she was placed.

Admission and Selection Procedure

i)    The selection of candidates for admission to the B.Ed. Course in Regular mode shall be made on the basis of Entrance Test conducted by the University.
ii)   To qualify for admission to B.Ed. course, a candidate must obtain minimum of 45% marks at the Entrance Test held for the purpose.
iii)  Admission shall be made strictly in order of merit, i.e. percentage of marks secured by the candidate at the Entrance Test held for the purpose.
iv)  Reservation of seats for the candidates of reserved categories will be as per State Government's rules/ M.U. rules for admission in other Degree courses. In no case, the percentage of reservation fixed by the State Govt. will exceed.
v)   Reservation of seats provided in the general ordinance for admission will be applicable only when candidate fulfills the minimum requirement that is obtained minimum 45% marks in the entrance test.
vi)  If at any stage it is found that candidate has furnished any false information, his/her candidature shall be cancelled immediately.
vii) The university shall reserve the right to take any decision in all matters of admission.

viii)      No applicant shall be admitted, who in the opinion of Vice-Chancellor, should not be admitted in the best interest of the University.

 

Course Fee
A candidate is required to pay the entire course fees in one installment at the time of admission. The course will run on self-finance basis, hence, fees may be revised by the university, if necessary.

Candidates appearing in the University examination will have to pay the prescribed examination fee other charges of the University.
